How did Dr. B start?

Dr. B was created by Cyrus Massoumi, the founder of Zocdoc, with a core team whose backgrounds include One Medical, NYU, Cedar, Haven, MIT, and other top organizations. The service was developed with the advice of Dr. Ian Lipkin, Director of the Center for Infection and Immunity, NIH Center for Diagnostics and Discovery, and Center for Solutions for ME/CFS at Columbia University.


Where does the name Dr. B come from?  

Dr. B is named in honor of Cyrus’s grandfather, whom the family affectionately referred to as Dr. Bubba. The original Dr. B became a doctor during the Spanish flu, a global pandemic that took place in the early 1900s, and dedicated his life to removing obstacles between patients and care.


Who is Cyrus Massoumi? 

Cyrus Massoumi is an entrepreneur and investor whose mission to make access to healthcare more efficient and equitable. Cyrus is the founder and former CEO of ZocDoc and a member of the Board of Advisors of Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. Cyrus is also the founder of humbition, a venture capital firm, and Shadow, the app that uses AI and the power of community to reunite lost pets with their families.
